Sustainability and Transparency Act

The Transparency Act

The Openness Act shall promote businesses’ respect for basic human rights and decent working conditions in connection with the production of goods and the provision of services, and ensure the public has access to information about how businesses deal with negative consequences for basic human rights and decent working conditions.

This is anchored in our ethical guidelines, our supplier confirmation and self-declaration from suppliers to CNC.

We carried out our last survey of all actual and possible negative consequences in May 2023. Both internal conditions and suppliers have been surveyed.

We divide our supply chain into transport and materials, in addition to subcontractors for machining and external labour.

Transport is an industry that has a high risk of indecent working conditions, while raw materials for materials can come from countries with a low score on Transparency International’s list. We want to prioritize these areas in order to reduce the risk by setting requirements in contracts, audits and self-evaluations.

All suppliers are evaluated annually in an internal evaluation system, in addition to all having to sign our supplier confirmation and a self-declaration. Low scores on the evaluation, no desire to accommodate our supplier confirmation/own learning or willingness to rectify the situation can lead to the current supplier being excluded from further cooperation with CNC.

Sustainability

The UN's Sustainable Development Goals

The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals are the world’s joint work plan to eradicate poverty, fight inequality and stop climate change by 2030, and are a joint global direction for countries, businesses and civil society. CNC Produkter AS (CNC) is concerned with reducing the footprint of our company, and uses the UN’s sustainability goals as a starting point in our work. Even though we are a small company in a small place, we believe that everyone has a responsibility both at work and privately, and therefore want to lead by example. CNC works with all of the UN’s sustainability goals, but some of our larger focus areas are:

Sustainability goal 12: Responsible consumption and production. All surplus material (shavings, trimmings etc.) from our production goes to recycling. In addition, we continuously renew our machine park with new technology that gives us a higher degree of robotization and more environmentally friendly industrial processes. Sustainability and innovative solutions are leading themes in every investment at CNC.

Sustainability goal 14: Life underwater Although it is not a requirement for our company, CNC has an oil separator. It treats water from our sewage and is an assurance that our discharge water does not contain anything that could be harmful to the aquatic environment.

Environment

For CNC, it is important to maintain the environment for the future, with the associated commitment to minimize the amounts of waste and the negative environmental effects that our operations can cause. We shall prevent any form of pollution through our work, and encourage all employees to live up to our vision of an environment for the future, also in their spare time.

Every year, CNC prepares environmental targets that are measured, monitored, communicated and updated.

Social responsibility

In its demeanor/behaviour, together with its employees, CNC must be a workplace that works actively to follow normal, ethical guidelines and laws for good ethics, both Norwegian and international. We must respect and support human rights by not engaging in any form of discrimination or harassment, and take care of all employees and others we meet.

We make use of local actors to the greatest extent possible for services and work at the company, in addition to transport to and from our customers. We support local teams and events in our local community, and buy in from companies with local outlets.

For our employees who are moving to Norway, we conduct a comprehensive Norwegian course with a private Norwegian teacher. This ensures that our employees learn the Norwegian language quickly, thereby lowering any social barriers both at work and privately. We see this as our social responsibility.
